Lurig Drama Group Cushendall is a small amateur drama group of some dozen members set up in 1972 to foster the love of drama in the Glens of Antrim, Northern Ireland. Their first festival experience came in 1974 and during the past 35 years they have established a considerable track record in competition throughout the north of Ireland. In 2010, after winning the Northern Ireland One Act Festival Finals in January, they took part for the first time in the British One Act Finals, held in East Kilbride, Scotland.
Their entry, Melody, starring Rosaleen Agnew and Pauric Dunne and directed by Nuala Connolly, is a Deirdre Kinahan play about a seemingly prim widow and clumsy bachelor who meet regularly on a park bench.
Lurig Drama Group is interested in making contact with FEATS groups with a view to exchanging experiences and – who knows? – maybe reciprocal visits and performances.
Anyone interested in following this up should contact Christine Melby of Lurig Drama Group.
